Nancy Wilson is a Grammy Award winning jazz singer. Nancy Wilson was born on 20th February 1937 in Chillicothe Ohio, to Olden Wilson who was a worker in an ironworks, and Lillian Ryan, a former domestic employee. Nancy was the youngest out of six kids. Nancy was heavily influenced by her father's musical tastes and records played in the home. At just 4 year old, she knew she would be a singer. Nancy made her debut record in the band's studio with Dot Records while in the group. Cannonball suggested that she relocate into New York and go to The Big Town for the rest of her professional career. Adderley's Agent heard her in The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she then signed her contract. Within one month after her arrival in New York City. He obtained a contract for the label Capitol records in 1960 and she debuted the following year by releasing the single. Guess Who You Saw Today. Her records were successful and Capitol issued five Nancy Wilson albums in two years. At first, she focused on rhythm and blues under the influence of Adderley, she shifted away from R&B as she embraced jazz and torch songs. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley joined forces in 1962 and helped push her up the charts. By 1963 she scored her greatest success through Tell Me the Truth. The following year it led to her being invited to the New York's Coconut Grove - the top nightclub in America.
