April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball athletes to win medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold in the next few days. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic gold. It may well be that she has one opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even If we play our best I believe we can get the gold medal." Therefore, I'm hoping to have some luck too. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in 1982. Her parents and her sister resided in the area. The athletic pursuits she pursued continued at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of activities. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball and track. However she was clearly a cut above the rest in this latter game. As per her biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). In recognition of her work, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross is currently playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017, but Ross's beach game was established well before the year. In reality, she's had numerous big wins as well as one of her partners was a renowned volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace in the world circuit, winning an international title in 2009. They took home a Silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team that took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, edged each other to take home the gold medal. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college player at USC Trojans prior to beginning the start of her professional career. She played during high school and in some years before she hit the beaches as a professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was remarkable. As a freshman in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year awards and was also an All-American. Also, she was one of the key players in helping the Trojans reach it to the Final Four. She was devastated by a personal tragedy during her sophomore years, yet she went on to be an All-American once more. Over her final two years as a player, she led the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain by winning two consecutive national championships. The individual accomplishments of her have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross, who was a USC international relations major, was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the privilege of watching her daughter become an international beach volleyball star. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother died of breast cancer. She still holds her mother very dearly. Margie has been an inspiration in her life and on the beach.
