Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name for Winona Laura Hoowitz who was born within Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter in honor of her hometown. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father came from a Jewish origin. The actress is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family moved from Mendocino County to California at the age of seven years old. The family lived in a place without electricity. There was no television books were Ryder's only distraction to spend the time and she became an avid reader. Ryder began taking acting lessons at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 aged 12 years old. Her first role was a success on the big screen in 1986, when she was 15 years young. Ryder was subject to bullying in high school. Her hope was that her career in acting would alter that. Sadly that didn't happen. She continued to pursue her dreams. Her breakthrough came in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder played successful roles for several films. In 1993 she won an Oscar Award in the film The Age of Innocence.
